The Central Election Commission has announced the dates of assembly elections in Maharashtra. The Commission has ordered to conduct elections in a single phase in the entire state. Aurangabad East assembly seat is one of the six constituencies of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly located in Aurangabad district of the state. It is a part of the Aurangabad Lok Sabha constituency, along with five other assembly constituencies namely Vaijapur, Gangapur, Aurangabad Central, Kannada and Aurangabad West (SC). Elections were held on this assembly seat for the first time in the year 1980. In the elections of that time, the people here elected Janata Party candidate Gawande Rambhau Eknath as the MLA.

This assembly constituency is one of the 288 assembly constituencies of Maharashtra state. Which is a general category assembly seat. It is located in Aurangabad district and is one of the 6 assembly constituencies of Aurangabad parliamentary seat. Scheduled Caste voters in Aurangabad East Assembly are approximately 50,698. Whereas Scheduled Tribe voters are approximately 3,267. Muslim voters in Aurangabad East Assembly are around 115,573, which is around 37.5 per cent as per voter list analysis. In the 2019 assembly elections, the voter turnout percentage for Aurangabad East assembly was 63.38%.

Elections were held on this seat for the first time in 1978. At that time Janata Party had won from this seat. Congress had won from this seat in 1980. BJP dominated this seat from 1985 to 1999. In the 2004 assembly elections, the Congress party had won from this seat and in 2009 also the people here chose the Congress.
In the 2014 assembly elections, BJP once again returned from this seat, since then till the present time BJP has been winning from this seat. At present Atul Moreshwar Save is the MLA here. In the 2024 assembly elections also, BJP has fielded Atul Moreshwar Save from this seat. One thing that can be understood from the history of Aurangabad East Assembly seat is that this time also the chances of BJP’s repetition on this seat are visible.
