The battle for Maharashtra Assembly elections has reached its final stage. As per the announcement of the Election Commission, voting will be held in the entire state on November 20. Whose counting of votes will be done on 23rd. This time Maharashtra elections are going to be very special in itself because this time the parties are entering the electoral fray for the first time after the rift between the local parties. Buldhana seat is the 22nd assembly seat among the 288 assemblies of the state. This seat was held by Congress for a long time in the initial phase. In this election, Mahayuti has declared Sanjay Ramrao Khakwale as its candidate from this seat.
However, after this this seat mostly went to Shiv Sena. Buldhana assembly seat is held by Shiv Sena and Sanjay Gaikwad is the MLA from here. This seat has mostly been with Shiv Sena since 1990. If we leave aside the elections of 1999 and 2014, only Shiv Sena candidates are winning here. In 1999 and 2014, the Congress candidate had won from here. However, in the 2019 elections, this seat again went to Shiv Sena SHS.
What was the result in 2019?
Talking about the last assembly elections held in 2019, Sanjay Gaikwad contested the election from Shiv Sena, while Vijay Shinde from Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi Party i.e. VBA and Harshvardhan Sapkal from Congress contested the election. In this triangular election, Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Gaikwad registered a unilateral victory. He had secured a total of 67,785 votes. While VBA’s Vijay Shinde had to be satisfied with 41,710 votes and Congress’ Harsh Vardhan Sapkal had to be satisfied with 31,316 votes. This means that an independent candidate had taken more votes than the Congress on this seat. Although Congress candidates have also won this seat, but in the last election, Shiv Sena had pushed Congress to third place.
