Mallikarjun Kharge targets PM Modi for comparing ‘Lal Kitab’ of the Constitution with ‘Urban Naxalism’

Mumbai Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday criticized Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for comparing the Constitution’s ‘Lal Kitab’ with ‘urban Naxalism’ and said the Prime Minister had made a similar comparison to then President Ramnath Kovind in 2017. Gave a copy.
Addressing a press conference here after releasing the manifesto of the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) for the November 20 assembly elections in Maharashtra, Kharge also said that his party’s demand for conducting caste census is an attempt to divide the people. Not for this but to understand what is the current situation of different communities so that they can get more benefits.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had recently alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was trying to get the support of ‘urban Naxalites and anarchists’ by showing ‘Lal Kitab’ in his hand. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has been showing a copy of the red cover book of the abridged version of the Constitution in his rallies.
Kharge said that Lal Kitab has been used only for reference and is not the complete Constitution. Showing a photo of Modi and Kovind, he said, ‘Even Narendra Modi had given a similar copy to the then President Ramnath Kovind on July 26, 2017.’

Kharge also showed the red book of the Constitution and said that it does not have blank pages as Modi and BJP people are saying. Taking aim at the Prime Minister, the Congress President said, ‘It is necessary to get him re-admitted to primary school.’
He described the MVA manifesto as inclusive and participation based. Kharge said it was important for Maharashtra to defeat the ruling Mahayuti and support the MVA for stability and good governance.
