A multi -storey building of a textile factory collapsed late Saturday evening in Ludhiana’s ‘Focal Point’ area, killing a laborer. The officers provided this information.

Officials said that six workers trapped in the debris were taken out by several teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). He said that one of these laborers died, while three others are in critical condition. He informed that the deceased worker has not been identified yet.

He said that rescue operations are going on to find out whether someone is still trapped in the debris. He said that a worker was already rescued and was taken to the nearest hospital.

According to officials, the incident took place in Phase-8 area of ​​’Focal Point’ on Saturday evening. Initially, seven personnel were stranded in the debris. According to an eyewitness, strong housing was heard before this building collapsed.

Two parties of National Disaster Response Force, Police, Fire Department and Factory Department and other teams of municipal corporation are engaged in rescue operations. Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundiyan and Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal are personally monitoring rescue operations at the scene.

He emphasized that saving trapped workers is the top priority. The Deputy Commissioner said that the health department has been instructed to keep the medical team and ambulance deployed on the spot till the completion of the rescue operation. According to him, the Municipal Corporation and the fire department have also been instructed to deploy additional personnel round the clock there.
