This seat came into existence for the first time in the year 1978. The first election on this seat was won by Janata Dal candidate Mohanlal Parikh in the year 1978. Then in the year 1980, in the assembly elections, BJP’s Nanubhai Patel had won the Mumba Devi seat. After this, in the year 1985, Congress leader Lalit Kapadia had won. Whereas in the years 1990 and 2004, there was BJP rule. Purohin won this seat for 4 consecutive times. Apart from this, Congress leader Amin Patel held this seat in the assembly elections of 2009, 2014 and 2019.
