In June 2023, Salwan Momika surprised the world when he attacked a copy of the Quran, a holy book of Muslims and then burnt it in front of the biggest mosque in Stockholm. One of his friends shot this act of disobedience. Momika was known for organizing a performance in Sweden where she publicly burnt the Quran several times.

According to Swedish media, Momika came to Sweden from Iraq in 2018 and was awarded a three -year residence permit in 2021.
