Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took a long -awaited step on Sunday and confirmed that the master plan has been finalized for the widespread development of Punaradham in Sitamarhi. Sitamarhi is believed to be the birthplace of Goddess Sita. The announcement is an important cultural milestone for the state and has been made before the upcoming assembly elections. Sharing the proposed design photos on X (East Twitter), the Chief Minister said, “I am very happy to announce that architecture design is now ready for a grand temple dedicated to Jagat Janani Mata Janaki in Punauradham, Sitamarhi. A dedicated trust has also been installed to speed up the construction process. The construction of the temple will also be installed.”

According to the scheme released by the state government, the Janaki temple will be constructed in the style of traditional Indian temple architecture. The project also includes several modern features for pilgrims and visitors: comfortable resting place, a dharamshala, a museum, parking area, a prayer room and a cultural platform. The architecture from the grand entrance to the sanctum sanctorum is carefully prepared to deepen the spiritual experience of the devotees.
CM Kumar said that the newly formed trust made up of religious leaders, administrative officials and architectural experts will oversee the construction work to ensure speed, transparency and quality. The budget and tender process will be announced soon. Punaradham holds the sacred significance as the birthplace of Mithila’s daughter and Lord Ram’s wife Sita in the Hindu tradition. The Bihar government is now planning to develop this revered site as a national and international religious tourism centers. This initiative is also being seen as a strategic move to strengthen the cultural heritage of the state and connect with people’s emotional feelings before elections.
