Police arrested two miscreants during an encounter and recovered 15 two -wheelers and illegal weapons etc. from them. A miscreant has been injured due to police bullet.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Ram Badan Singh said on Monday that two people on the motorcycle were seen coming in the police Sector 62 of the police station Sector 58 last night.
The police indicated them to stop but they started fleeing by firing at the police. Singh said that Imran (son Mohammad Salim) was shot in the leg in retaliation by the police.
He said that Imran, a resident of Meerut, has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. He said that the police have recovered a motorcycle, desi pistol and cartridges etc. from Imran. He said that 65 cases of theft are already registered against Imran.
Singh said that the second crook was arrested by the police during the search operation. He has been identified as Arif Rana (son Faheemuddin). He is also a resident of Meerut.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I), during interrogation, the police have come to know that the crooks are professional bike thieves and after stealing the bike and selling the junk.
He said that 14 motorcycles stolen from one place have been recovered from Arif Rana. Sarik and Usman, who are monitoring these bikes, have also been arrested.
