A new destroyer warship weighing 5,000 tonnes for North Korea’s Navy was damaged during its watering ceremony. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un also attended the event.
Government media gave this information on Thursday. According to North Korea’s official ‘Korean Central News Agency’ (KCNA), the warship slipped from the ‘ramp’ and trapped at the time of burning, which deteriorated the balance of the warship and damaged its lower part.
The accident at a ceremony held on Wednesday at Chongjin’s north-east port is considered a shameful shock for Kim. Kim has been describing the strengthening of the Navy for his atomic-Caste forces.
Kim convicted military officials, scientists and shipyard operators for the incident. He described it as “a serious accident and criminal act” for the incident, “severe negligence, irresponsible and lack of scientific understanding”.
‘KCNA’ said Kim has called a meeting of the ruling ‘Workers Party’ in view of “irresponsible mistakes”. The agency said that the full meeting of the party’s powerful Central Committee has been scheduled in the end of June. The South Korean army did not immediately release any assessment on the North Korean report.
