To support this initiative, ECI has launched a dedicated IT module on its ECINET platform. This platform will replace and streamlined the existing EPIC issuance, which will include the application programming interface (API) of DOP for uninterrupted and efficient card distribution.

The Election Commission (ECI) of India has launched a new standard operation process (SOP) on June 18, which ensures delivery of voter photo identity cards (EPIC) within 15 days of any update in the voter list, as a major step to increase voters’ convenience. This applies to both new enrolled voters and existing voters who update their details. The newly introduced system involves real -time tracking of EPIC, which starts from the moment of making cards by the Election Registration Officer (ERO) to its delivery through the Department of Posts (DOP). Voters will be informed of each phase through SMS alert, which will ensure transparency and better service communication.

ECINET operated by platform

Better service distribution and data security

The new SOP is part of ECI’s comprehensive digital change strategy that aims to increase electoral service distribution by protecting data security. Again engineers reflect the commission’s commitment to workflow innovation and civil-focused rule.
