Delhiites will soon be able to enjoy the boat ride. The Delhi government and the Center signed a memorandum of understanding to develop water tourism between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur in 4 km long part of Yamuna. Speaking at the program organized at Asita Park, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said that this facility will be expanded in the coming days to reduce the congestion on the roads of Delhi and the residents can get better travel options. He further stated that this initiative is an important step towards integrating river, road and metro transport systems, and a public-private partnership (PPP) model will also be discovered for further development of the Yamuna Corridor.

Accepting the previous delay in cleaning the Yamuna, he said that earlier it was considered like a drain. Saxena assured that since the new government took over, progress has gained momentum and said that there has been significant progress in solar energy and sustainable transport solutions. The government also announced plans to improve public transport, reduce traffic congestion and promote local businesses. LG said, “This is just the beginning. There are more development and we will work with private players to expand and improve the system.”
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that this initiative will give Delhi a modern identity focused on cleanliness, beautification and development. He claimed that the previous government had created obstacles, but people chose Pragati. Gupta announced the introduction of eco-friendly electric-lore hybrid boats to promote sustainable travel and shared its approach to replace the Yamuna Ghats in cultural and artistic centers such as Varanasi. He also emphasized the continuous commitment of the government for cleaning the Yamuna and daily development efforts, thanked for the dedication of all departments for making this change possible.

On the MoU to start a ferry service on the Yamuna River, Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said, “This is a big step for the development of Delhi.
