National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held an important meeting in Beijing on Wednesday, in which several issues including maintaining peace and stability along the LAC and restoring bilateral relations, which were frozen for four years, were discussed. Doval and Yi – Special Representatives of India and China for the border mechanism – discussed a roadmap to take forward talks on border issues, which had been stalled due to the military standoff in eastern Ladakh.

23rd round of special representatives talks
Earlier, Doval, who was leading the Indian delegation, reached Beijing on Tuesday to participate in the 23rd round of Special Representatives talks being held after a gap of five years. The last meeting of the Special Representatives talks was held in Delhi in 2019. The talks started at 10 am China time.
The two officials were expected to discuss a range of issues to reinvigorate bilateral ties following the agreement on disengagement of troops and patrolling between the two countries on October 21 in eastern Ladakh. China on Tuesday expressed optimism about the talks, saying they would implement the commitments based on the consensus reached between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping during their meeting in Kazan, Russia on the sidelines of the BRICS summit on October 24.
