Amidst the growing controversy over temple and mosque in the country, the latest case has come to light from Ajmer in Rajasthan. Where Hindu Sena’s national president Vishnu Gupta filed a petition in the court calling Ajmer Sharif a temple of Mahadev. While hearing the petition, the court has also issued notices to the concerned parties. Let us tell you that in his petition, petitioner Vishnu Gupta has cited the book written by former judge Harbilas Sarda in 1911 – Ajmer: Historical and Descriptive. It is being told that it has been claimed in this book that the Dargah was built from the debris of the temple. The book also claims that there is a Jain temple located in the sanctum sanctorum below it and in the complex. It is being told that it has been claimed in the book that there is a basement inside the Dargah which has a Shivalinga. It has also been claimed in the book that this temple was built by the descendants of Prithviraj Chauhan, who ruled Ajmer.

In his petition, Vishnu Gupta has requested the Archaeological Survey of India to conduct a survey of this site so that worship can be done there again. While hearing the petition, the court has issued summons to Ajmer Dargah Committee, Minority Ministry, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). After the court issued notice to all the parties, petitioner Vishnu Gupta said while talking to the media that we want Ajmer Dargah to be declared as Sankat Mochan Mahadev Temple. He said that if there is any kind of registration of the Dargah then it should also be canceled and Hindus should be allowed to worship there.

On the issue of Ajmer Dargah case, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi said, “The Dargah has been here for the last 800 years. From Nehru to Prime Ministers, all the Prime Ministers have been sending chadars to the Dargah. He asked why BJP-RSS spread so much hatred towards mosques and Dargahs. He said that PM Modi also sends a sheet there, why are the lower courts not hearing the Place of Worship Act? Where will the rule of law and democracy go? He said that PM Modi and RSS are weakening the rule of law in the country. All this is being done on the instructions of BJP-RSS.
