PM Modi leaves for Kuwait on a two-day visit. Became the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the Gulf country in 43 years. Invited by Emir Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, PM Modi will meet Kuwait’s top leadership, including meetings with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. In another notable event, the Prime Minister will visit a labor camp housing blue-collar Indian workers. The PM will also address the Indian diaspora at the Sheikh Saad Al Abdullah Sports Complex in the ‘Hala Modi’ programme.

During Modi’s visit to the labor camp, Foreign Ministry Secretary Arun Kumar said that our community in Kuwait is about one million strong. The idea of ​​the labor camp visit is to express how much importance the Government of India attaches. This is related to our workers who are working abroad. Before PM Modi’s visit, the Foreign Ministry said that discussions are going on between the two countries on a bilateral investment treaty and defense cooperation agreement. In this weekly media briefing, the Ministry of External Affairs expressed hope that the PM’s visit will strengthen India-Kuwait relations. It is noteworthy that PM Modi’s visit to Kuwait is taking place two weeks after the fall of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria and the ongoing Israeli attack in Gaza.
