President Draupadi Murmu reached Algeria on Sunday as part of the first leg of her three-nation visit, where she was given a warm welcome. “President Draupadi Murmu arrived in Algiers, Algeria on the first leg of her three-nation visit,” said the post shared by the Indian President’s official account on X. This is the first visit of an Indian President to Algeria.
“The President was received at the airport by Algerian President Abdel Majid Taboun himself,” the post said. Other members of Algeria’s cabinet were also present during this period. The President was given a warm and formal welcome.
“President Draupadi Murmu arrived in Algiers on the first leg of her three-nation visit, where she was formally welcomed,” External Affairs Ministry official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in another post. This is the first visit of an Indian President to Algeria. The President of Algeria himself warmly welcomed President Murmu.
The President left on Sunday on a state visit to Algeria, Mauritania and Malawi. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson wrote on ‘X’ that this will be the first visit of an Indian head of state to these countries to strengthen India-Africa relations.
