Congress candidate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote a letter to the people of Wayanad titled “My dear sisters and brothers of Wayanad”, in which she expressed her deep connect with the constituency and her commitment to serve as a public representative. In her emotional letter, Priyanka shared her observations from her visit to the landslide-affected areas of Churamala and Mundakkai with her brother Rahul Gandhi and talked about the strength and unity displayed by the community in the face of the tragedy.

In her letter, Priyanka Gandhi reflected on the devastation caused by the landslide and the huge loss caused to the people. He praised residents for coming together after the disaster, noting their solidarity, compassion and resilience. Praising the efforts of doctors, volunteers, public representatives, social workers and citizens to help each other, he wrote that amidst the darkness of tragedy, your immense courage and patience as a community impressed me.
Referring to her brother’s close association with Wayanad, Priyanka said she felt proud and sad when Rahul Gandhi asked her to contest from the constituency. He assured the people of Wayanad that he is dedicated to further strengthening the relationship he has established with his brother and vowed to continue representing their needs and concerns in Parliament.

She stressed that she would prioritize issues affecting farming and tribal communities, as well as opportunities for women, and expressed a deep commitment to “creating new opportunities to strengthen your future.” Priyanka also talked about preserving Wayanad’s natural beauty and rich cultural heritage as being of central importance for the development of the region.
