Two people climbed an overhead water tank in Bajaj Nagar, Jaipur on Sunday, demanding cancellation of the Sub-Inspector Recruitment Exam 2021, surrounded by allegations of paper leak. Two days passed and the men refused to come down, necessitating drastic measures. On Tuesday, Minister Kirori Lal Meena took the matter into his own hands and climbed onto the tank himself. On reaching there, he spent half an hour trying to convince the two men, who were eventually brought down with the help of the fire brigade.
Two men, Laddu Ram Chaudhary (35) and Vikas Vidhuri (34), had climbed onto the tank around 1 pm on Sunday with banners highlighting their concerns. Meena, who reached the protest site around 11 am on Tuesday morning, first tried to talk to people from a distance, but to no avail. Both men highlighted that the Rajasthan Police’s Special Operations Group had uncovered irregularities in the examination, so it should be cancelled. People also claimed that the sanctity of the exam was compromised by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission, and that exam question papers were sold.
On the students demanding cancellation of SI recruitment exam, Rajasthan Minister Kirori Lal Meena said that the students have agreed and shown their trust in me. I have assured them that after the by-elections I will meet the CM to resolve their issues. About 9 lakh unemployed people took the exam for SI recruitment. Most of the recruitments done in the previous government are fake. He said that according to media reports, we can assume that the paper leak has happened on a large scale. The government is investigating the matter and 50 inspectors have been arrested. Students are demanding. There are strong allegations against three RPSC members…if this is true then action will be taken against them, whoever they are.
