Birth
Let us tell you that Ranjan Gogoi was born on 18 November 1954. Ranjan Gogoi joined the Bar Council for the first time in the year 1978. He started his career from Guwahati Court in the year 2001. During this time he was appointed judge.
career
In the year 2010, Ranjan Gogoi was appointed judge of Haryana and Punjab High Court. Then one year later i.e. in 2011, he was appointed the Chief Justice of Punjab-Haryana High Court. After this, on 23 April 2012, he became a judge of the Supreme Court for the first time.
Gogoi was famous for strictness
Former Supreme Court CJI Ranjan Gogoi was famous for his hard work, impartial decisions and work. An incident happened with the strict Chief Justice Gogoi, due to which his image emerged as strict. Because for the first time in the history of the Supreme Court, it did something which no one had even thought of. In fact, before becoming CJI, Gogoi took a decision under which former Justice Markandey Katju was summoned to the Supreme Court. This happened for the first time.
Let us tell you that Katju had strongly criticized the court’s decision in a rape case in Kerala. After which he was issued a notice and ordered to appear and this order was given by none other than the historical Justice Gogoi. However, on the request of the lawyers on this issue, Justice Gogoi let him go after giving a warning.

This years old case and historic decision was given by a bench of 5 judges headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi. In this decision it was ensured that Ram temple will be constructed on the disputed land of Ayodhya.
CJI office under the ambit of RTI
Along with this, Gogoi had given a historic decision bringing the CJI office under the ambit of RTI. In this decision, it was made clear by the court that the tenure of CJI is a public authority. In such a situation, information can be obtained through RTI.
