Rampur (Uttar Pradesh). The special MP/MLA court of Rampur on Wednesday acquitted former MP Jaya Prada Nahata in a case of violation of code of conduct, giving a big relief. Jaya’s lawyer Arun Prakash Saxena told reporters that a case was registered against the former MP from Rampur at Swar police station in the district in 2019. According to him, it was alleged that despite the implementation of the election code of conduct, Jaya organized a public meeting and inaugurated a road in Noorpur village without permission. Jayaprada was then contesting elections from Rampur Lok Sabha seat on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket.
He said that Special MP/MLA Court Judge Shobhit Bansal acquitted Jaya due to lack of evidence. Jaya told reporters after the court’s decision, “She is happy with the court’s decision. Some people are hatching conspiracies to stop her from coming to Rampur but Rampur is her second home and she will keep coming again and again. She will also contest the next Lok Sabha elections from Rampur.” When asked about speculations about contesting the by-election from Kundarki assembly seat in Sambhal district, Jaya said that only the top leaders of the party will take a decision in this regard.
