Former MLA from Airoli assembly constituency Sandeep Naik faces a big challenge of handling the political legacy of his father Ganesh Naik. Which they are trying their best to fulfill. Due to his hard work, Naik has also conquered Airoli region twice. He started his politics with NCP. However, before the 2019 assembly elections, Sandeep Naik along with his father left Sharad Pawar and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. His father Ganesh Naik was successful in winning this election.
Sandeep Naik was born on 4 August 1978 in Maharashtra. He is a former member of the Legislative Assembly. He rose to prominence in the state after winning the 2009 assembly elections. He is the son of BJP politician Ganesh Naik, who served as the state Excise Minister and New and Renewable Energy Minister. Sandeep Naik’s elder brother Sanjeev Naik is a former MP.
Debut in politics
Sandeep Naik started his political career as a councilor in Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in April 2005. In 2007 he was elected unopposed as Chairman of the Standing Committee of NMMC. He officially assumed his duties as Chairman on March 8, 2007.

In the 2009 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Sandeep won the Airoli assembly constituency by defeating Shiv Sena-BJP candidate Vijay Laxman Chougule by a margin of 11,957 votes. Sandeep got 79,075 votes out of the total 1,57,751 votes, while Vijay Chougule got 67,118 votes.

In the elections held for Airoli constituency, major parties of Maharashtra including Congress, NCP, BJP and Shiv Sena had fielded their candidates. Incumbent Sandeep successfully retained his seat by defeating his nearest rival Vijay Laxman Chougule of Shiv Sena Party. Sandeep won by a margin of 8,725 votes, receiving a total of 76,444 votes, while Chowgule received 67,719 votes. BJP’s Vaibhav Tukaram Naik secured the third position with 46,405 votes.
Bharatiya Janata Party
In July 2019, Sandeep and more than 50 other members of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A ceremony was held in Vashi, Navi Mumbai in the presence of then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and then Maharashtra unit chief Chandrakant Patil. On 19 July 2023, BJP party appointed Sandeep Naik as Navi Mumbai District President. This announcement was made by Maharashtra State BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule. After the appointment, Sandeep led the party’s initiatives in Navi Mumbai.

Ganesh Naik Charitable Trust: Sandeep heads the Ganesh Charitable Trust, which provided essential supplies in vehicles to aid flood victims from various parts of Navi Mumbai in 2021.
Green Hope: Green Hope, an NGO established in 2007, headed by Sandeep, organizes cleanup drives and tree planting initiatives in Navi Mumbai to support environmental conservation and restoration.
Navi Mumbai Shikshan Sankul: Navi Mumbai Shikshan Sankul was founded by Sandeep to focus on education in Navi Mumbai, especially for economically disadvantaged students. The Foundation launched its mock board exam ‘Sarva Pariksha’ for students appearing for SSC board level in Maharashtra. The purpose of mock board exam is to build confidence in class 10th students for SSC exam.
Navi Mumbai Sports Complex: Established in 1989 by Ganesh Naik, Navi Mumbai Sports Complex is currently headed by Sandeep. The organization was formed to provide opportunities to emerging sporting talents in Navi Mumbai. In December 2013, the Navi Mumbai Sports Complex hosted the Navi Mumbai Sports Festival event, which was attended by over 14,000 athletes representing 150 schools and colleges.
