Former BJP MP Sujay Vikhe Patil, who lost the election from Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar Lok Sabha seat, has filed his nomination for the assembly. BJP leader Sujay Vikhe Patil had lost the Ahmednagar seat to Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Chandra Pawar) party candidate Nilesh Lanke. Sujay Patil, son of senior BJP leader Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, has created a stir in Maharashtra politics by expressing his desire to contest the assembly elections. Sujay Vikhe Patil has announced to contest from Sangamner Assembly seat falling in Shirdi Lok Sabha constituency.

Veteran Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat is currently the MLA from this assembly seat. Thorat had won this seat for the first time in 1985 as an independent. Since then he has won the elections eight times. Sujoy Vikhe Patil’s challenge to the invincible Congress leader is being seen as revenge. This time Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena has won the Shirdi Lok Sabha seat.

Congress candidate had prepared a strategy

Balasaheb Thorat’s political moves were held responsible for Sujay Vikhe Patil’s defeat on the Lok Sabha seat. Due to which Sujoy Vikhe Patil had to face defeat. Now Sujoy Vikhe Patil has announced to challenge Thorat directly. In the last elections, Balasaheb Thorat had defeated Shiv Sena candidate by more than 62 thousand votes. Thorat had secured 64.39 percent votes. The lotus has not bloomed yet in this seat. Even after this, Sujay Vikhe Patil has announced to contest from Sangamner. Sangamner assembly falls in Ahmednagar district but the Lok Sabha constituency is Shirdi.
