saraswati sits on the tongue how people of maharashtra fulfilled sharad pawar wish

YEARS

In his speech at Yugendra Pawar’s campaign rally in Baramati, Sharad Pawar hinted at his retirement by mentioning that he has been active in the political circle of Maharashtra for the last 55 years. Right now I am in Rajya Sabha. After that I will have to think again whether to go to Rajya Sabha or not.

Congress, which contested 101 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly, won only 16 seats and stood second with 12.42 vote percentage. The party received 8,020,921 votes. Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena contested 81 seats, out of which it won 57 seats and secured 12.38 percent votes. Interestingly, Sharad Pawar led NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), which secured less seats, got more votes than Ajit Pawar led NCP. NCP (SP) contested 86 seats, but could win only 10 seats with 11.28 percent votes. In contrast, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP contested 59 seats and won 41, and secured 9.01 percent votes. Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (Ubhatha) won 20 seats and the party got 9.96 percent votes. According to Election Commission officials, 66.05 percent voting was recorded in the state assembly elections held on November 20, compared to 61.1 percent in 2019.

Pawar had earlier announced that this would be his last term as an RS member. In such a situation, it seems that people took Sharad Pawar’s wish seriously. NCP Sharad faction could not get enough seats to send anyone to Rajya Sabha. Bade Pawar still has one and a half year’s tenure left. Pawar’s tenure ends on April 3, 2026. In such a situation, in the absence of sufficient strength of NCP (SP), it will not be possible for their respective parties to send them back to the Upper House.

However, Sharad Pawar has said that he will continue doing social work even after retiring from politics. Just a month before the split in NCP, Sharad Pawar had resigned from the post of party president. But due to the insistence of many NCP leaders and workers, he withdrew it.
