In a vital moment for Muslims around the world, Saudi Arabia has officially announced to look at the half -focus of Dhulhiza 1446. The scene is a symbol of the beginning of this holy month of the Islamic calendar from tonight, which determines the last dates of Haj and Eid ul-Aadha this year (Eid-ul-Azha, Bakra Eid, Bakrid, Bakharid, Eid-ul-Juha, Eid, Eid al-Eid, Eid Kurbaan, or Kurbaan Bayarmi). This announcement indicates the beginning of the spiritual climax of the Islamic calendar, in which millions of Muslims around the world are preparing these important events.
However, a different announcement has come from Jammu and Kashmir. Grand Mufti Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam Farooqui, has informed that the crescent of Dhulhiza has not been anywhere in the Union Territory. This discrepancy means that the dates of Haj and Eid ul-Aadha in Jammu and Kashmir may vary from the dates announced by Saudi Arabia, which depend on the local lunar philosophy.
When will Eid be celebrated in India?
Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam said, “There has been no testimony about the moon showing the moon for the Mubarak month of Jul Hija (1446 AH) from any part of Jammu and Kashmir.” He further said, ‘This month (Jul Hija) will start on Thursday (May 29, 2025). The holy festival of Eid-al-Azha will be celebrated on June 7, 2025 (Saturday).

Eid-ul-Azha: Festival of faith, sacrifice and brotherhood
Eid-ul-Azha, also called Bakra Eid, is a special festival of Muslims. This reminds us of trusting God, devotion and his wish. This festival brings Muslims from all over the world together, which increases unity and love. On this day, family and friends celebrate happiness together, which makes their relationship stronger.
On the day of Eid, people wear new or good clothes and offer special prayers in a mosque or open field. In the preaching given after the Namaz, renunciation is said to obey God and have mercy to others.
Qurbani is an important part of this Eid. It sacrifices an animal (such as goat, sheep, cow or camel). This reflects Prophet Ibrahim’s desire to sacrifice his son. This task teaches us to be selfless and to be completely devoted to God. The sacrifice of sacrifice is divided into three parts: for a family, one for friends and relatives, and one for poor and needy people. It is a special part of the distribution of Eid-ul-Azha, which increases kindness and solidarity in the society.
The festival is celebrated in the month of Jin al-Hija, which is the last month of the Islamic calendar. This is the day of the Prophet Ibrahim’s full dedication to Allah. This is the second major festival of Muslims after Eid-ul-Fitr.
