Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday released its first list of 66 candidates for the Jharkhand Assembly elections. State party president Babulal Marandi will contest from Dhanwar, Lobin Hembrom from Borio and Sita Soren from Jamtara. Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren has been made candidate from Seraikela, Geeta Balmuchhu from Chaibasa, Geeta Koda from Jagannathpur and Meera Munda, wife of Union Minister Arjun Munda, from Potka.

In Jharkhand, BJP will contest the upcoming assembly elections in alliance with All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United) (JD-U) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). At the same time, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Rashtriya Janata Dal and Congress are contesting the elections together. Assembly elections in Jharkhand will be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20 and the counting of votes will take place on November 23.
