Singapore Open: Satwik-Chirag pair suffers upset in the opening round of Singapore Open

However, the Indian pair lost 20-22 18-21 in a 47-minute contest against the world number 34 pair. Apart from this pair, other Indian players also faced disappointment in the first round of this Super 750 level tournament. Aakarshi Kashyap and Priyanshu Rajawat also failed to cross the first round hurdle in their respective categories.

Aakarshi, ranked 41st in the women's singles, lost to Pornpicha Choekewong of Thailand 7-21, 15-21, while Rajawat, ranked 42nd in the men's singles, lost to Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong 21-23, 19-21 in a close match. The women's doubles pair of Rutuparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda also lost to Chang Ching Hui and Yang Ching Tun of Chinese Taipei 12-21, 21-12, 13-21.
