Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday targeted the DMK over the dispute and accused him of hypocrisy. He said that the “elderly person” he worshiped, he used to call Tamil “barbaric”, which cannot help begging beggars.
In the Lok Sabha, Sitharaman said that the people of the DMK consider a person who has said derogatory things against Tamil. He said, “I do not want to take his name, but as soon as I read his part, a person aware of Tamil will understand what I am speaking about.”
The Finance Minister said, “On the contrary, they will keep their picture. They will also say that she is our Dravidian symbol. Although the BJP leader did not name that “elderly person”, she was clearly referring to Periyar, the leading leader of the Dravidian movement.
Sitharaman also regretted the fact that DMK MPs did not even condemn the cartoon shown in chains to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in front of US President Donald Trump.
He said that action will be taken against the cartoons published in the online edition of ‘Vikan Plus’ (now taken back). The minister said, “… When a cartoon is made about the honorable Prime Minister, do you want us to sit and see it?” Definitely action will be taken, and I am glad that the cartoon of Vikatan was removed. ”
He said that if someone says anything against the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, he is “arrested at midnight.” Continuing his attack on DMK, Sitharaman said that the ruling party in Tamil Nadu keeps double standards about Tamil.
Sitharaman said that just to say that “your opposition is rude”, he (DMK) forced Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to withdraw his statement.
The Finance Minister said, “But a person who repeatedly states that Tamil is a barbaric, he keeps his picture in every room, garlands him and worships him and says that he is a symbol of the Dravidian movement.” Look at their hypocrisy.
