Before the month of Ramadan, six namazis, including the chief Maulana, were killed and 18 others were injured in an explosion by a suicide bomber during a prayer in a madrasa in a madrasa in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Northwest Pakistan. Police gave this information.
Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah has confirmed that Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) chief and acting Hamidul Haq Hakkani of Madrasa-e-Hakkania in Akora Khattak city in Nowshera district died in the blast.
Hamidul Haq was born in 1968 and was made the head of JUI (Sami Group) after his father Maulana Sami Ul Haq died. Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfikar Hameed said that the police suspect that the attack was carried out through a suicide bombing and Hamidul Haq was the target.
He said, “We had provided six security guards to Hamidul Haq.” The IGP said that no organization has taken responsibility for the attack yet. The prayers of Hamidul Haq’s funeral will be performed at Akora Khattak at 11 am on Saturday.
The District Police Officer (DPO) of Nowshera Abdur Rashid said that the explosion occurred while offering prayers in the madrasa. Darul Uloom Hakkania Madrasa preachs the Hanfi Deobandi idea of Sunni Islam and Maulana Abdul Haq established the said madrasa on the lines of Darul Uloom Deoband Madrasa of India.
Due to the content of the teaching method of this madrasa, it is called “University of Jihad”. Several prominent members of the terrorist organization, including former Taliban chief Akhtar Mansoor, have studied in this madrasa.
The rescue team reached the spot and took out the bodies and rushed the injured to the hospital. Emergency has been declared in both Nowshera and Peshawar hospitals. According to DC Irfanullah Mehsud of Nowshera, Hamidul Haq was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, along with four others, including his son Abdul Haq Thani. Hamidul Haq died there, while his son was discharged after treatment.
According to officials, 18 people have been injured in the attack and two of those killed have not been identified. The leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam have appealed to the people to donate blood for the injured. The Anti -Terrorism Department (CTD) has registered a case.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur condemned the incident and directed the concerned authorities to present a comprehensive report. Gandapur termed this attack on the madrasa as an inhuman act of killing innocent people.
He said that all the condemnation of this cruelty is less. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz wished the injured to recover quickly. He termed the attack during the prayers of Jumme as open terrorism and said that Pakistan would win this battle against terrorism.
Nawaz insisted that the whole country is united on this issue. Faisal Karim Kundi, Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, immediately interacted with the higher officials regarding the attack. He has also sought a detailed report on the incident from the officials concerned.
