The second survey of Jama Masjid has been successfully completed amid tension in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. Sambhal SP Krishna Kumar gave this information. He said the survey has been completed successfully and law and order is under control. Let us tell you, a petition has been filed in the local court claiming that there was a Harihar temple at that place. After this the court ordered a survey of Jama Masjid. The survey was conducted earlier on Tuesday on the orders of the court, since then there has been tension in the area. Many videos of this period have also surfaced on social media.
What did the SP of Sambhal say?
Sambhal SP Krishna Kumar said, ‘As per the court order, a survey of Jama Masjid in Sambhal district was to be conducted. Some people gathered in protest against the survey and started pelting stones at the time of the survey. The police retaliated on this. Some vehicles of sub-inspectors parked near the premises of Jama Masjid were set on fire. At present law and order is under control. Peace and order prevail everywhere. Duty is being imposed again, survey has been completed successfully.

What happened in Sambhal?
At around 7 am on Sunday morning, a team had arrived for the second time to survey Jama Masjid. As soon as the team reached the disputed site, a crowd gathered. Some unruly elements in the crowd pelted stones at the survey team and the police. The police retaliated by firing tear gas shells at the crowd and using mild force. Let us tell you, lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain was also included in the survey team. Vishnu Shankar Jain and his father Hari Shankar Jain have represented the Hindu side in several cases related to places of worship, including the Gyanvapi Masjid-Kashi Vishwanath Temple dispute.
Superintendent of Police’s response
Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Vishnoi said, ‘Some miscreants came out of the crowd gathered near the incident site and pelted stones at the police team. Police used mild force and fired tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. He said that those pelting stones and those who instigated them would be identified and action would be taken against them. District Magistrate Rajendra Pesiya said, ‘Some miscreants pelted stones but the situation is now peaceful and survey work is going on.’

Was Harihar Temple in place of Jama Masjid?
Local lawyer Gopal Sharma of the Hindu side said that in their petition filed in the court, it has been said that in the book Baburnama and Ain-e-Akbari, it is mentioned that there used to be a Harihar temple at the place where Jama Masjid is situated today. He also claimed that the temple was demolished by Mughal emperor Babur in 1529.
