Statues were found fragmented for the third time at a temple in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, villagers alleged that a Christian priest’s remarks against the temple instigated the attacks. The first incident of vandalism was reported on 25 December, when a man named Sajin broke the main statue of the Iskakiaman temple in Thottuthovili near Viennur. He was arrested after a police complaint but was later released on bail.
