NCP (SP) supremo Sharad Pawar, on Tuesday, indirectly sarcasted the opportunistic politics of his nephew Ajit Pawar, saying that some people are associated with the BJP only for power. Addressing party workers in Pimpri Chinchwad, senior Pawar indicated that he is ready to take those who follow the ideology of Gandhi, Nehru, Phule and Ambedkar, but will never accept any person doing opportunism politics.

He said that someone here has just said that everyone needs to be taken along. There is no problem in taking everyone along, but who are all? I am ready to take people who follow the ideology of Gandhi-Nehru, Phule and Ambedkar. Without naming someone, he said that some people have left the party (NCP established by him) and new people are joining. He said, “Everyone meant those who believe in the ideology of Gandhi, Nehru, Jyotiba Phule and BR Ambedkar. I can accept them, if they believe in this ideology and follow it. ”

He said, “However, if someone is going with the BJP for power, it is not the ideology of the Congress. One can join anyone, but going with the BJP cannot be in accordance with the Congress ideology.” Senior Pawar said that this “politics of opportunism” cannot be encouraged. The comment has come at a time when speculation is being made about the possible merger between the NCP’s two factions, as Sharad and Ajit Pawar have appeared together in many public events in the last few days.
