Two girls were rescued by smuggling from Delhi and brought to Srinagar

Two girls who were smuggled from Delhi to Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir have been rescued to work as a domestic assistant. The police gave this information on Thursday.

Police said that these girls aged 13 and 15 went missing on 23 December 2024. Deputy Commissioner of Police (External North) Hareshwar V. Swami said, “The mother of one of these girls alleged in her complaint that her daughter and daughter’s friend was last seen playing outside her house in Rajiv Nagar on 22 December. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under Section 137 (2) (kidnapping) of BNS.

Police said that a reward of two and a half thousand rupees was also declared on giving information about the girls for help in the recovery of girls. Police said the investigation initiated by the local police was handed over to the Human trafficking anti -trafficking unit on April 17 and found evidence of a mobile number operating in Srinagar.

Police said one of the missing girls working as a domestic assistant in a house in Srinagar was rescued in a joint raid. According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), during interrogation, the girl said that on that day they lost the way and reached near the Old Delhi railway station, where a person met him and promised them to get them jobs and money.

Swamy said that he later took him to Srinagar and handed him over to an agent, who kept him in different houses as a domestic assistant. Subsequently, the second girl was also recovered from second place in Srinagar. He said that further investigation is being done to identify the person smuggling him and the agent hiring him.
