UP Women Commission opposes male tailors, politics heats up

Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission is preparing a proposal to protect girls and women from bad touch and to stop the bad intentions of men and sending it to the Yogi government. If this proposal is accepted then in future male tailors and haircutters may face a lot of trouble. The Women’s Commission has said that male tailors should not stitch women’s clothes nor cut their hair. A few days ago, this proposal was presented in the meeting of the State Women Commission by Commission Chairperson Babita Chauhan, which was supported by other members present in the meeting, after which it will now be sent to the government for legalization.
Reactions to this decision of the Women’s Commission have started coming in at different levels. From where Samajwadi Party leaders are narrating the performance of BJP. Samajwadi Party spokesperson Anurag Bhadauria has called it a disgusting conspiracy of BJP. Bhadauria says that the saffron brigade is throwing the state into the fire of communalism, from which no one will be saved. Those who set fire will also become its victims. Meanwhile, BJP state spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi says that if the Women’s Commission has taken such a decision, then it must have some evidence regarding bad touch. Till now no such proposal has come to the government, when it comes, the decision will be taken on the basis of its merits and demerits. At the same time, people associated with these professions have started worrying about their livelihood at the mere sound of it. These people say that the livelihood of people associated with these businesses should not be taken away on the basis of one or two incidents. If the government finds something lacking then it can make improvements. Let us tell you that professions like women tailor, barber and gym trainer are dominated by a particular class of people. Often cases of bad touch with women also come to light here.

Let us tell you that after a meeting of the Women’s Commission held on October 28, many such suggestions were given, which included not allowing men to take measurements of women and installing CCTV cameras in shops etc. At present, this is just a proposal and the Women’s Commission is requesting the State Government to make a law in this regard later. In this regard, UP Women Commission member Himani Aggarwal said today that in the recently held Women Commission meeting, a proposal was made that only women tailors should measure the clothes worn by women. Also, CCTV should be installed at the shop. Himani Aggarwal has also said that in the same way only female barbers should take care of the female customers in the salon. Because, we believe that women are molested because of the men involved in this type of profession. They (men) try to misbehave. The intentions of some men are also not good. However, he also said that it is not that all men have bad intentions.
State Women Commission Chairperson Babita Chauhan said that there should be female trainers in the gyms where women go. Police verification of all gym trainers should be done. If a woman wants to take training from a male trainer, she will have to do so in writing. Because, the Women’s Commission is continuously receiving complaints of exploitation of women and girls going to the gym, after which this decision has been taken. Also, in the tailor shop where women’s clothes are stitched, it should be ensured that a female tailor is appointed to take measurements. Not only this, the school buses in which girls travel should have female employees. At present, the Women’s Commission has given orders in this regard to all the districts. Legal action will be taken against anyone who does not agree.
