Opener Virat Kohli said that his basic principle has to be batted according to the circumstances of the match, keeping his basic principle under control. One of the most successful batsmen of the current era, Kohli recently achieved another feat. He became the first Indian player to score 13000 runs in T20 format. Kohli while talking to Jio Hotstar said that batting is never about ego. This is never an attempt to beat anyone. For me it has always been about understanding the situation of the game. This is something that I am always proud of.
Kohli further said that, I want to play according to the circumstances. He said that, if I am in rhythm, I would naturally take the initiative to take responsibility. If someone else is playing better then he does it. Apart from this, Kohli also admitted that the IPL has given him a chance to understand T20 format.
Kohli is the highest number of centuries and runs scorers in the IPL. He has scored 8168 runs in 256 matches with eight centuries. The 36 -year -old player said that he understood the needs of this format since the 2011 session. He said that in my first three years with RCB, I did not get the opportunity to bat in the top order. I was usually sent in the lower order. In such a situation, I could not succeed in the IPL on a large scale during that time. Kohli said that I started performing well from 2010 and started batting regularly in third order from 2011. Since then I have done well with continuity.
At the same time, Virat Kohli admitted that spending 18 years in the league helped him to improve his skills in the shortest format of cricket. He said that the IPL challenges you in a very unique way because the structure of this league is quite different. It is not like a small bilateral series, it lasts for several weeks and your position changes in the points table. There are different types of pressure from the constantly changing scenario.
