The United States government managed to avoid a shutdown. The US Parliament passed a bill on Saturday morning to prevent a government shutdown. This bill has been sent to President Biden for signature. This bill will be implemented after signing. The Senate worked overnight to secure final passage of a bipartisan funding bill to temporarily manage federal operations and disaster assistance. Earlier, the House of Representatives approved Speaker Mike Johnson’s new bill by a landslide 366-34, with the Senate voting 85-11 in favor of the bill.

Biden will sign the law
This bill is now with outgoing President Joe Biden. The Democrat is spending the last month of his term in office before Trump takes office on January 20. Biden will now sign it to make it law. The 118-page package would fund the U.S. government at current levels through March 14 and add $100 billion in disaster aid to farmers and $10 billion in agricultural aid.

What would have happened if there was a shutdown?
Due to the shutdown, thousands of government employees go on leave without pay. Crowd increases at airports. Many things may be closed in America. However, some important works like army, welfare check, mail delivery continue to run. Shutdowns usually occur when a government cannot agree on a budget. There have been a total of 21 shutdowns since 1976. During that time this shutdown lasted for a total of 35 days. During that time, about 8 lakh government employees worked without any salary.
