At the international level, Kushti’s governing body UWW i.e. United World Wrestling has been threatened. This threat of UWW states that if the political intervention in the Indian Federation does not end soon, it will be suspended to India.

In such a situation, if the UWW suspends India for political intervention, then the wrestlers of the country will not be allowed to attend the international level in the future. Which will be a shock for many wrestlers in India who are watching their future in this game and dreaming of winning India medals in the Olympic, Asian Games and Commonwealth and World Championships.
Uwww President Nenad Lalovic has made it clear that the membership of WFI should be retained. WFI was suspended by the Sports Ministry, before the federation held elections in December 2023. Wrestler Satyavrat Kadian filed a petition in a Delhi court on the basis of suspension of the ministry and questioned WFI’s right to selection of Indian teams.

This is why the Indian teams almost missed participating in the World Championship. The ministry had said after approving the team that it would review the suspension. Even the court had asked the ministry to clarify its stand on suspension. The court had also restored the ad hoc panel, but IOA also refused to follow the order saying that it was not needed.

Even, the government had invited WFI President Sanjay Singh to participate in some meetings as an authorized representative of the federation. On Thursday, Uwww President Neenad Lalovic wrote a side to Sanjay Singh that he accepts WFI as the only intermediary for us in all matters related to wrestling sports and internationally representation in international level.
He said that, UWW does not accept any interference by public and political authorities in the internal affairs of our members federations except matters related to the control of public grants to the National Fangs.
