100 national security council staff sent on administrative leave

The Trump administration has sent more than 100 officials of the National Security Council on administrative leave to the White House as part of restructuring under the Interim National Security Advisor and External Affairs Minister Marco Rubio. The CNN had earlier reported that significant changes in the body responsible for the coordination of the President’s foreign policy in the coming days are expected to be a strong top-down approach to focusing employees’ deduction and decision-making process at the highest levels. According to an administration official, an email of NSC Chief of Staff Brian McCormac was sent around 4:20 pm, in which people being dismissed were given 30 minutes to clean their desk.

On Thursday, Rubio convened a meeting with the principals, which made speculation that it was about restructuring, the official said. And at 3:45 pm on Friday, shortly before the email was sent, senior directors were called for a meeting with Rubio. Since the incident occurred on Friday afternoon before a long holiday, the officer described it as unprofessional and negligent as possible.

Those sent on leave include career officers, as well as political people appointed during the Trump administration. Sources said that in recent weeks, employees were being re -interviewed by the President Personnel Office as the office was being reorganized. A source said that one of the questions asked was what the authorities think that the size of NSC is appropriate.
