14 people were killed and around 750 others were injured in a horrific explosion allegedly involved in a chemical component used in creating a missile propellant at a port in southern Iran. A few hours after the initial explosion, the helicopters were seen showering water to overcome the fire.
The explosion at Shahid Rajai port occurred at a time when Iran and the US met in Oman on Saturday for a third round of talks on Tehran’s fast growing nuclear program. No one in Iran said that the explosion has occurred as a result of any attack.
However, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who is leading the talks, admitted on Wednesday that “our security services are on high alert in view of the previous incidents of destructive acts and attempt to murder for a legitimate response.”
Iran’s Home Minister Eskander Momeni told the government media the number of casualties but could not find much information about the causes of the fire exactly out of the monkey Abbas. This fuel was to be used to re -establish the missile reserves in Iran, which ended with direct attacks on Israel during the war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The Iranian Mission at the United Nations did not respond to the request of the comment on Saturday. It is not clear why Iran did not remove chemicals from the port after the Berut port explosion in 2020. Hundreds of tons of highly explosive ammonium nitrate caused more than 200 people to be killed and more than 6,000 people were injured in the explosion.
The footage available on social media of the blast in Shahid Rajai on Saturday can be seen raising red colored smoke from the fire just before the explosion. This suggests that the explosion included a chemical compound. In the video available on social media, black smoke appeared after the explosion. In other videos, glass of buildings appeared several kilometers or miles away from the centers of the explosion flying.
Provincial Disaster Management Officer Mehradad Hasanzadeh said that the blast came from containers from Rajai port, but he did not explain anything in detail. Government TV also reported that a building collapsed due to the explosion, although no other details were given immediately.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said that it has started investigating the incident. The Rajai port is located in the hormuz Strait, about 1,050 km from Iran’s capital Tehran. Hormuz Persia has a narrow route in the Gulf, through which 20 percent oil is traded.
