A fierce avalanche took place on Friday at the Border Roads Organization camp near Mana village in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, in which 54 laborers were buried. The rescue team has saved 50 laborers, out of which 4 have died. The remaining 4 laborers are still missing, in search of which ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, Air Force and Army are working together. In addition, dogs have also been sent to Chamoli to help in rescue operations.
The deceased have been identified as Mohindra Pal and Jitendra Singh of Himachal Pradesh, Manjit Yadav of Uttar Pradesh and Alok Yadav of Uttarakhand. Officials are now focusing on finding four missing laborers Harmesh Chand of Himachal Pradesh, Ashok of Uttar Pradesh and Anil Kumar and Arvind Singh of Uttarakhand.
NDRF Commandant Sudesh Kumar said, ‘NDRF personnel are with the Air Force to carry forward the search operation. We have also sent dog squads and some equipment that detect items buried in snow. Four people are still missing. ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, Air Force, Army are all cooperating in this rescue operation.

Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said, ‘The weather has supported us. A total of 54 (BRO employees) are missing, 50 have been rescued and 4 people have lost their lives. Four people are still missing and the search and rescue operation is going on, and we hope that we will find them soon.
