5 people died and at least 40 people, including women and children, were injured when the stage collapsed during the Jain Nirvana Festival on Tuesday in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred when a temporary platform made of bamboo and wood collapsed during the laddu ceremony. According to police officials, hundreds of devotees reached the spot this morning to offer laddus to Lord Adinath in the presence of Jain monks. However, officials said that the temporary platform prepared for the devotees collapsed due to their weight, causing dozens of people.
Baghpat District Magistrate Asmita Lal said, “This program has been organized for about 30 years. At least 40 people have been injured. They have been admitted to the hospital and are undergoing treatment. He is undergoing treatment. People have already been discharged. “
Officers, including senior police officers, reached the spot with a large number of police forces to handle the situation. The injured were rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment. Wishing the injured to recover early recovery, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the district officials not to leave any stone unturned in the treatment of devotees.
Tirupati stampede case
Earlier this month, at least six people were killed and 35 were injured in a stampede near Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, one of India’s busiest and richest temples, known as Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.
The stampede occurred when thousands of Hindu devotees gathered there to get free darshan passes. District Collector S Venkateswara told reporters, “The stampede occurred when the gate was opened. About 2,500 people pushed the gate and entered … something fell.”
Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu ordered the higher officials to take relief measures to go to the spot and ensure better treatment to the injured. The next day, he visited the scene and ordered a high -level inquiry.
