After thorough investigation, it was found that 59 kg of gold was stolen. According to the bank, this gold belonged to customers who pledged it for gold loan. According to the police, the gang with six to eight members used fake keys to open a special locker filled with gold.

A customer of Canara Bank Shivna Gowda said,” It has been confirmed that at the time of the theft, the bank had about Rs 53 crore gold and Rs 7 lakh in cash. People from neighboring districts like Hern and Hubli pledged their gold in this branch for debt. Given the scale and value of the assets involved, it is advisable to say that it can be one of the largest bank robbery in the country. “
Gowda also questioned the security of the bank. He said, “It is not the customer’s fault; he trusted the bank with his precious goods. Personally, I think the bank should have taken more vigilance to prevent such serious safety violations.” Meanwhile, the police said that they are investigating it from all angles and have formed eight teams to further investigate the matter.
