“Jha was arrested in an inebriated condition from his official quarters located within the premises of Muzaffarpur Sadar Hospital. He was earlier also arrested for violating liquor prohibition law in Bihar,” he told reporters.
Officials of Bihar’s prohibition and excise department on Thursday arrested a senior official of the state health department in an inebriated condition from his quarters in the Sadar Hospital premises in Muzaffarpur, a police official said.
The arrested person has been identified as Rajesh Jha, a senior official of the state health department. Sale and consumption of alcohol is banned in Bihar since April 2016. The liquor prohibition law was implemented in Bihar in April 2016, under which the manufacture, sale or consumption of alcohol was banned.
Muzaffarpur East Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Amit Kumar told reporters, “Jha was arrested in an inebriated condition from his official quarters located within the premises of Muzaffarpur Sadar Hospital. He was earlier also arrested for violating liquor prohibition law in Bihar.
