BJP has won Haryana and now full preparations are being made to form a new government. The decision about who will be the CM and who will be given what responsibility is being taken in Delhi. Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday at his residence at 7 RCR Lok Kalyan Marg in Delhi.
Naib Singh Saini met Prime Minister Modi
A day after the landslide victory in the Haryana Assembly elections 2024, state Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in Delhi and thanked him for his leadership, leading to a landslide victory in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the exit polls. Defying the predictions, it was able to register a hat-trick win in the state. The meeting comes at a time when Nayab Singh Saini may be asked to continue in his post after the BJP’s success in Haryana, where the BJP has secured majority by winning 48 out of 90 assembly seats.
Preparations to finalize the cabinet
Haryana Chief Minister is in Delhi, where he will meet senior BJP leadership. The news agency quoted sources as saying that he may consult the party high command to finalize his new cabinet. Naib Singh Saini contested from Ladwa assembly constituency and defeated Mewa Singh of Congress by 16,054 votes. Congress, which was leading in the initial trends of vote counting, was reduced to 37 seats. INLD won two seats and three independents also emerged victorious.
On Tuesday, the BJP came from behind to defeat the Congress and achieve its best-ever victory with 48 seats, dashing Congress’ bid to make a comeback in the Haryana Assembly elections. BJP is going to form the government in the state for the third consecutive time, proving wrong the exit polls which predicted an easy victory of Congress. The defeat in Haryana is a big blow for Congress, which may impact the upcoming elections.
BJP has Achieving a comfortable majority
The BJP won a comfortable majority by winning 48 seats, while the Congress won 37 seats and the INLD won two seats. In comparison to the role of kingmaker in the 2019 assembly elections in Haryana, Dushyant Chautala’s JJP did not do much. JJP won 10 seats in 2019. Reactions from Congress allies (India Bloc members) indicate that the Haryana election results have weakened the Congress’s stance in the poll-bound states. Now Congress allies may have the upper hand in seat sharing meetings.
