Vijayadashami is being celebrated with joy and happiness across the country on Saturday. At the same time, to participate in it, President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached a program organized by Shri Dharmik Leela Samiti in Madhav Das Park, Delhi. President Murmu and PM Modi applied tilak on the forehead of the artists playing the roles of Lord Ram and Lakshman in the park. President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also symbolically shot arrows at Ravana.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that India has never attacked any country out of hatred or malice, but if its interests are threatened then we will not hesitate to take a big step. On the occasion of Vijayadashami, Singh performed Shastra Puja at Sukna Military Station in West Bengal and said the ritual is a clear indication that arms and equipment will be used with full force if necessary.
The 33 Corps based in Sukna is known as Trishakti Corps. It is responsible for the security of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China in the Sikkim sector. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath joined the procession in Gorakhpur. CM Yogi Adityanath applied ’tilak’ on the forehead of the artists playing the roles of Lord Ram, Lakshman and Sita at Ramlila Maidan in Gorakhpur to participate in the Dussehra celebrations. National Conference President Farooq Abdullah reached SK Stadium in Srinagar to attend Dussehra celebrations here.

Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, is a major Hindu festival celebrated at the end of Navratri every year. It is celebrated on the tenth day of the month of Ashwin, which is the seventh day in the Hindu lunisolar calendar. This festival usually falls in the months of September and October of the Gregorian calendar. The festival of Vijayadashami is celebrated in almost every part of the country, and there are many stories associated with it, the most popular of which is the defeat of Ravana by Lord Rama, one of the most revered deities in India. This festival also begins preparations for the important festival of lights, Diwali, which is celebrated twenty days after Vijayadashami.
