mallikarjun kharge action all units of himachal congress dissolved

YEARS

The move is being seen as part of Congress’s plan to restructure the party’s Himachal unit. There has been no change in the PCC since the formation of the Congress government in the hill state.

The Congress party on Wednesday dissolved its entire unit in Himachal Pradesh on the instructions of its president Mallikarjun Kharge in view of the possible reshuffle of units in the state. According to a letter, the entire state units of the PCC, district presidents and block Congress committees of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee have been dissolved with immediate effect. The letter signed by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal mentioned that the move will come into effect with immediate effect.

The move is being seen as part of Congress’s plan to restructure the Himachal unit of the party. There has been no change in the PCC since the formation of the Congress government in the hill state. Outgoing Himachal Pradesh Congress president Pratibha Singh has already become a member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the highest decision-making body of the party. Singh, who is the wife of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, was appointed the state Congress chief in 2022.

Himachal Congress is plagued by factionalism, which was seen during the Rajya Sabha elections in February, when ruling Congress candidate Abhishek Singhvi lost the election to BJP’s Harsh Mahajan after some Congress MLAs switched sides and cross-voted in his favour.
