Team India has been announced for the Champions Trophy 2025 and the ODI series against England. Along with this, it has also been announced that captain Rohit Sharma will play in Ranji Trophy. Actually, Rohit Sharma has indicated to play in Ranji Trophy. He practiced with Mumbai’s Ranji squad. Mumbai has to face Jammu and Kashmir from January 23.
During the press conference for the Champions Trophy 2025 and the ODI series against England, Rohit Sharma also explained why he was not able to play the Ranji Trophy. Rohit Sharma’s performance on the Australia tour was very poor. He also decided to sit himself out of the last Test.
During the press conference, Rohit Sharma also said why he could not play Ranji Trophy. Rohit last played a Ranji match in November 2015. Rohit said that, if you look at our calendar in the last 6-7 years, we have not sat at home for 45 days during cricket. When IPL is over, you get time, after that nothing happens.
Rohit further said that, our domestic season starts in October and continues till March. Players who are not playing in all formats can play when domestic cricket is happening. For me personally, ever since I started playing Test cricket regularly I hardly get time. When you play international cricket regularly, you need rest to refresh yourself. Nobody takes it lightly.
