Team India’s best bowler Jasprit Bumrah has created a new record by winning the Sir Garfield Sobers Award. He created a new Kartiman by creating ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2024. He has become the first Indian fast bowler to win the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Award. Bumrah performed Kamal last year. He took the most 86 wickets in 2024. He took 71 wickets in Test cricket. He has also won the 2024 ICC Men Test Cricket Op the Year Award.
Bumrah has surpassed Australian batsman Travis Head, England veteran Joe Root and young cricketer Harry Brook. This trophy is given to the best performing cricketer in a year. The Men’s Cricketer of the Year Award is named after Garfield Sobers, one of the world’s great cricketers. The former West Indies all -rounder is also known as Gary Subors.
Apart from Rahul Dravid for India before Jaspreet Bumrah, Sachin Tendulkar, Ravi Ashwin and Virat Kohli have won the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Award. Virat Kohli won this prestigious award 2 times. But this is the first time an Indian fast bowler has won the Sir Garfield Sobers Award.
Let me tell you that the first Indian to win Sir Garfield Award is Rahul Dravid. Rahul Dravid was awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Award 2024. Sachin Tendulkar was then awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Award 2010. Ravi Ashwin won the Sir Garfield Sobers Award in the year 2026. While Virat Kohli won the award in 2 years in 2017 and 2018.
