The Muslim National Forum (MRM) convenor Shahid Saeed on Tuesday welcomed the approval of the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 and described it as an important step towards empowering the deprived communities. He said that this bill will work as an effective means to meet the basic social needs by empowering the underprivileged and weaker sections. Shahid Saeed said that this success is a result of the hard work, struggle and awareness campaigns of the forum, in which the relevance of the bill was explained to the public by organizing more than 1000 programs across the country. Apart from this, more than 250 representatives of various organizations of the Muslim National Forum appeared before the JPC and presented their arguments on priority.
At the same time, the activists spread across the country of the stage gave support and suggestions to JPC in large numbers. All these were taken by JPC with full seriousness. During this time, the rapid criticism of opposition leaders in JPC also had to listen to the members of the forum, but the representatives of the forum made their suggestions with ease, simplicity, evidence, argument and full vigor. Shalini Ali, head of the women’s wing and national convenor of MRM, appreciated the bill, saying that it would ensure transparency and accountability in managing Waqf properties. He further emphasized that the approval of the bill will promote the participation of women in the development of the society.

The bill led by JPC President Jagdambika Pal approved 14 amendments to prevent transparency, corruption eradication, and encroachment. National convenor Shahid Akhtar called it “a journey from road to Parliament” and said, “This bill will be a medium to unite the society.” The forum underlined the importance of the bill by releasing the book “Waqf Bill 2024: Respect to Islam and Gift for Muslim”.
