Wanted accused of double murder in Basti arrested after encounter

In the Kaptanganj area of ​​Basti district, the police arrested a prize money of Rs 50,000 wanted in the double murder after the encounter. The arrested accused Balveer was wanted for the murder of Godavari (60) and her daughter Soumya Upadhyay (22) on the intervening night of December 3, December last year in Santha village of Kaptanganj police station area.

Police officer (city) Satyendra Bhushan Tiwari said that the encounter took place near Gadha Gautam village late on Saturday, when a joint team of Kaptanganj and Duboulia police along with the Special Operation Group (SOG) tried to catch the accused.

He said that when the police surrounded Balveer, he fired bullets at the police team while trying to escape, in retaliation of the police, Balveer was shot in the right leg, after which he was detained and admitted to the hospital.

Tiwari said that Balveer, the wanted in the double murder, was absconding since the incident and a reward of Rs 50,000 was declared on his arrest, the police have recovered a desi pistol, a cartridge and two kiosks from his possession.According to the police area officer, during interrogation, Balveer has told that he had returned from Mumbai two days ago and kept his phone closed in the house.

According to the police, Balveer has confessed that on the night of three-four-year-old last year, he murdered his aunt Godavari and cousin Soumya in a planned manner with the help of his comrades and set his bodies on fire before fleeing from the spot. Another accused in the case, Kamlesh Kumar, was arrested by the Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh Police from Amravati in Maharashtra last Friday.
