BJP-NDA coalition in 19 states including East-West, North South South, now Delhi including Delhi

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ended a 27 -year long drought in the national capital with a huge victory in the Delhi assembly elections. So far, BJP is ahead at 48 out of 70 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party is ahead at 22. This election was fought with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the face of BJP. With this victory, the BJP -led coalition will now rule in 21 states/union territories. There is now a BJP government alone in 15 states including Delhi. In 2024, PM Modi achieved a historic tenure for the third consecutive time, making him one of India’s longest serving leaders. Under his leadership, BJP contested last year in eight states – Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand. The party and its allies formed governments in five states – Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Haryana and Maharashtra. The BJP’s alliance with SKM in Sikkim broke before the election, although both remain in the alliance at the central level.

BJP returns to power in Delhi
The BJP has decisively defeated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Delhi assembly elections, which is AAP’s first defeat in the state elections since its establishment in 2012. The party emerged from the anti -corruption movement faced a crushing defeat as the BJP returned to power after 27 years. During the campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched sharp attacks on Arvind Kejriwal’s party, even called it ‘AAP-da’ (a disaster) and warned that it was a threat to the future of Delhi. On the other hand, Kejriwal and his party contested on the Kejriwal model of governance.
