Umar Ayub Khan, the leader of the party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is jailed, has ruled out the possibility of resumption of talks between the party and the government. This information was received from a media report on Sunday. In the National Assembly, PTI leader Ayub told a channel on Saturday that the chapter of the talks has now closed. Ayub said that political talks are not only based on desires but it requires strong commitment and the government failed to showcase so. Condemning the approach to the coalition government’s talks, the senior PTI leader said that his party’s committee had started a discussion with goodwill.

He said that however, the other party neither showed goodwill nor will it, which led to a deadlock. Ayub’s comment came at a time when talks between PTI and the government have come to a standstill, which began in late December after an increased political tension. PTI has refused to participate in the fourth round of talks citing the government’s failure in creating a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 riots and the protests of November 2024.
